Tips for Serving Great Wine During the process of aging red wine, tannin, a bitter flavor, becomes sediment over time, improving the taste and quality of the wine. Carefully Decanting the wine, pouring the wine into another container, allows you to keep the sediment out of your glass. To properly decant your wine, hold a lighted candle near the neck so that you can see the sediment as it moves closer to the opeing. Letting Wine Breathe The process of bottling may cause some wines to "Close", so that the bouquet and flavors are not as apparent as when they were young. Aging the wine, allows the tannin to become sediment. When a young wine "breathes", oxygen helps the wine to "open" and release it's flavor again. But beware, you can allow a wine to breathe too much and over oxygenation will ruin your good wine. Two to three hours of breathing is about as much as a wine can take. Experts also say to decant your wine just prior to serving. Your Authorized Vinotheque Master Distributor, T.L.Marshall Company can answer all your questions about the type of wine cooling system that is best for your collection. Please contact us today to put a plan together for you. T. L. Marshall Co.
